On Request / Per person

Trip Overview

Three passes Everest trekking is a combination of three high passes called Kongmo-la, Cho-la and Renjo-la. Three passes of trekking are running at the foot point of Mt Everest. Everest three passes trekking is famous for those who are looking for an additional adventure. The highlight of the trekking is high passes, the excellent view, Sherpa culture and their hospitality, to visit the highest mountain base camp, the holy Lake of Gokyo and eye-charting views etc.

Asian Hiking Team recommends three passes Everest trekking itinerary starting from Lukla. Early morning fly to Lukla, continus trek to Phakding. A long day trek brings you Namche Bazar. Namche is a good enough name for adventure lovers. One day rest for acclimatization and explore the Sherpa villages. Tengboche is the name famous for the Monastery and Everest views. Crossing the higher Sherpa villages, Pangboche and Dingboche. Dingboche is a warm and suny valley. We reached Chhukum which is the foot point of the Island peak. To climb Chhukum Ri, it's for acclimatization. Kongma-La pass is the long pass that starts early in the morning from Chhukum to reach Lobuje. The last part of trekking near the pass, almost 200m, is a very steep climb. The view from Kongmola pass is untouchable. You can see Thamserku, Makalu, Baruntse, Amadablam, and Island Peak behind you. On the other side, the Khumbu Himal ranges include Pumori, Lobuje, Cholatse, Cho Oyu etc. After the Pass, you trail steeply down to Khumbu glacier. Another day we visited Everest base camp. It is interesting to visit Kalapathar for the best view. After that we headed to Chola Pass, Chola pass always had snow on the top. After the Chola we bring you Gokyo valley. Gokyo valley is interesting for the Lakes and has an unbelievable view. We have a one full day to explore the Gokyo valley and climb the Gokyo Ri. Asian Hiking Team guide heading you to Renjola pass, the last pass in our trekking. At the first hour we follow the Gokyo Lake, after that we climb 2 hours to reach the upper part of Renjola. We keep climbing to reach Renjola pass. The view from Renjola pass is eye-charting and includes Mt Everest, Makalu, Lhotse, Amadabla, Cho Oyu and many more. After crossing the Renjola, trekking all the way to Thame valley continues to Namche Bazar. The trek ends in Lukla and returns to Kathmandu by flight.

06

Day 6: Dingboche (4410m) – 5-6 hours trekking (B/L/D).

Today, we start early around 7 to 8 o’clock. Half an hour down to Debuche, where there is a monastery and small settlements inside the alpine forest. After a 45 minutes’ walk to cross the bridge, continue climbing to reach lower Pangboche. The trekking routes follow the lower path of Pangboche. It is worth to visit Monastery if you have time, its takes 45 minutes extra. An hour walk to reach a small settlement called Somare, may have lunch in Somare then gradually walk up. After one hour's walk from Somare, there are two ways, one heading to Pheriche and the other is Dingboche. Right hand side direction is way to Dingboche 4410m, 1 hour from the junction. After arrival, have a short drink with rest and climb 200 meters over the Nagarjun hill because every day we “ascent high and sleep in low”. Overnight guest house/Lodge.

07

Day 7: Trek to Chhukum (4730m), 3.30 hours after lunch climb to Chhukum Ri 5550m (3/4 hours), Overnight Lodge (B/L/D).

Today, the short trek to reach Chhukum (4730m) took 3.30 hours. But you will recommend our clients to climb Chhukum Ri which is 5550m high. The trail follows the Imja Tse (Island Peak) gorge gradually climbing to Chhukum. Chhukum has few hotels and guest houses for tourists. After lunch, cross the tributaries and start steeply climbing to Chhukum Ri 5550m (3/4 hrs) which is the first highest climbing in three passes trekking, return to hotel 2 hours overnight at Lodge in Chhukum.

08

Day 8: Kongmala pass (5535m) and trek to Lobuje (4900m) 9 hours, Overnight Lodge (B/L/D).

Early this morning, I started to climb Kongma La pass (5535m) and trek to Lobuje (4900m) 9 hours. We start at 4/5 am from hot breakfast, first an hour of a small trekking trail over the hillside. We caught the trail from Dingboche over the 4800m. After that we gradually and steeply climb up to reach the flat area where you can see the Heli ground and the eye charting Lake. You are carrying many mountains. If you turn back you can see the Island Peak, Makalu, Baruntse, Ama Dablam etc. The last 15-20 minutes are a very difficult climb to reach the summit of Kongma La pass. Be careful when going up because if you sleep you will be in blue Lake. After passing the trail all the way steeply down to catch the Khumbu glacier. Cross the Khumbu glacier which is very carefully walking coz moving rock and if the weather is bad or snow difficult to find the path, reach Lobuje 4910m 3-4 hours from top. We had a late lunch in Lobuje. Overnight at Lodge.

09

Day 9: Trek to Gorep-shep 3 hours after Lunch continues trek to EBC (5370m), 2/3 hours and back to Gorep-shep (5170m), Overnight Lodge.

Early in the morning leaving Lobuje, after lunch in Gorak-shep within 3 hours we will head up to Everest Base camp (5365 meters), and return to Gorak-shep at elevation of 5170 meters at noon for overnight stay. We walk over the moving stone with a jump so it is hard, be careful to walk. Crossing the Italian high altitude research center, it continues to follow the bottom of the hill. Climb half an hour and the trail over the glacier so up and down to Gorep-shep 5170m, check the hotel, have lunch and start walking to base camp. The trail to base camp is over the glacier, moving rock, if you are trekking in the winter season it is hard to find the path. Everest's new base camp is 45 minutes before the old base camp. Old base Camp was over the Khumbu icefall so all trekkers reached the new base camp and returned. It is also noticeable that from base camp you could not see the Everest view. Overnight in Gorep-shep at lodge/guest house.

10

Day 10: Early morning climb to Kalapathar (5545m) 2/3 hours after breakfast trek to Dzongla (4830m), Overnight Lodge (B/L/D).

After reaching Base camp of Everest our aim today is to trek Kalapattar (5545 meters). We start early in the morning before sunrise to reach the viewpoint that offers some of the best views of Mount Everest as well as other panoramas of the surrounding mountains. Kalapattar means “Black rock”, the most excellent view point in the world. It takes 2 hours to reach the top and returning to Gorep-shep takes one hours or maybe less. Returning to Hotel, after a late breakfast, descend to Lobuje, have lunch and 3 hours continue trekking to Dzungla (4830m), crossing the bottom of Lobuje ranges, overnight in a basic tea house/lodge.

11

Day 11: Trek all the way to Cho-la pass continues in Thangna (4700m), 8/9 hours (up and down), Overnight Lodge (B/L/D).

Today is a long and challenging day of our trekking so we started before sunrise at 4/5 AM to reach the pass by 9-10 AM otherwise weather conditions will greatly affect our journey. First an hour follows the peace and quiet valley then we start to climb gradually up. There are huge and hanging rocks on the path, you need to be careful when climbing up, trekking poles will be recommended. After we finished climbing the rock part, we reached the snow valley. There are always running snow. We cross over at an altitude of 5300 meters and we could be exposed to strong winds if crossing too late. However, the problem may arise due to the altitude and snow. It often causes terrible problems to cross the pass if it is covered by snow. Near the top have Ice Lake. It started a few years ago. So you need cake when passing the lake. The trail is on the right hand side on the mountain side. As you reach the top, you are rewarded by the magnificent views, and then we descend to the Thangna at noon. We will bring some packed lunches. We will recommend to your clients to bring some chocolate, cookies and enough water. There is not any tea shop or hut between Thangna. After an hour is a very dangerous path steeply down. Sometimes I recommend using an ice-axe. It is also noticeable there are running stones so you need to care when going down. After 1-2 hours walking from top there are very nice routes gradually up and down to reach Thangna (4610m). Overnight at the Guesthouse/Tea house.

12

Day 12: Trek to Gokyo (4790m) 3 hours, Overnight Lodge (B/L/D).

Today, we planned a short trek because we had a long day yesterday. After breakfast, I started walking over Ngozumpa Glacier. There are not preferred trails and the trail may change every year because of running glaciers. Asian Hiking Team’s guide leads you to follow the path and some places have signs of stone pyramids too. You are inside the valley of high mountains so both sides have huge mountains including Cho Oyu, Kangchung Peak, Cholatees, Tabuche, Kyanjo Ri etc. After crossing the glacier, you can see the Gokyo village near the Lake. The entire hotel is on the side of Lake. Opposite of you, Gokyo Ri. There are four Lakes in the Gokyo valley (4790m). Check the hotel overnight.

13

Day 13: Gokyo Ri – Gokyo, overnight Lodge, Overnight Lodge (B/L/D).

Today is like a rest day. We will see the condition of all our group members and decide what and when to climb Gokyo Ri. To climb Gokyo Ri 5360 meters high takes 3 hours to reach the summit. From Summit you can see; Mt. Everest, Lhotse , Nuptse, Pumori, Ama Dablam, Makalu very well. It is also an interesting place to visit fourth lake and take 4-6 hours to walk. There is one of the best views in the Everest region. You can talk with your guide and decide what everyone likes. Rest and relax safe energy for Renjola pass, overnight at a hotel in Gokyo.

14

Day 14: Climb to Renjola Pass (5340m) and down to Marulung (4210m) 8 hours, Overnight Lodge (B/L/D).

Very early morning starts to cross Renjola Pass. First part of the trek follows the lake over the west bank. After gradually climbing and steeply climbing to the summit of Renjola Pass. From Gokyo it takes 4 -5 hours to reach the top. The time is depending on the group members’ situation. From the summit of Renjola pass, the unbelievable Mountain View includes Makalu, Everest, Lhotse, and Cho Oyu which are mountains above 8000m high. Few minutes enjoying the view and taking pictures. After passing we are going to another valley, steeply down. Renjola pass is a very nice trail, there are yaks or horses that also cross in spring time. The entire paths are steps. After 1.45 minutes down then comes the flat land. Very beautiful valley, continues follow the flat down land 2 hours and reach to Lumde (4368), we have lunch in Lumde and walk 1 hour to reach bottom of Bhote Koshi River, cross the suspension bridge, check the lodge in Marlung (4210m), Overnight in Lodge.

15

Day 15: Trek to Thame (3820m) 4 hours, Overnight Lodge (B/L/D).

Today is also a very short day, 3 hours walking, all the itinerary when we pass high passes next day makes a short day because you are so tired and see the members' situation so the itinerary mentions a short day. Well, today I am gradually going down and passing many memorable statues and Mane walls to reach Thame valley. Thame is a famous place for burning world record Sherpa. The monastery, potato farm, and Sherpa lifestyle are very attractive for tourists. Explore the village and cave monastery, overnight in Thame at the hotel.

16

Day 16: Trek to Namche Bazar (3440m) 3 hours, Overnight Lodge (B/L/D).

Trek to Namche Bazar (3440m) 3 hours, follow the beautiful trekking trail. From Thame cross the Bhote koshi River and walk the rhododendron forest crossing many tributary and hydro projects. There are so many Buddha Gomba on the way. You are always round on the clock side. As well as the Mane wheel also round on the clock side. Reach Namche Bazar, relax and rest in a hotel, shop or visit the German Bakery etc. overnight in Namche at Hotel.

superb trip!
superb trip!
Thank you for a superb, superb trip! I can't convey myself good enough in English - but everything was just perfect! The flights, itinerary, groups, support teams, hotels and the best of all. Your company was handling of every potential disaster quietly and with grace. You are taking care of every last point, made it very stress-free and soothing for the group... Thank you again for classifying everything so well!
We methodically enjoyed every part and every instant of our time spent in Nepal. With Everest fresh in our memories we are tempted to say that this trek was even more exciting than the others trail. Of course, our previous visit was an incredible experience, which caused us to fall in love with the beautiful country. But it was also perhaps because we knew how much more Nepal has to offer that drew us into going again, and we welcome how much more informative this trek was compared to before.
As has been said frequently, and has been highlight while looking at the photographs – the variety of terrain, scenery, and temperature was very special. We especially enjoyed Kul 's extensive awareness, and felt we learnt so much about the culture, religion, and the people that we weren't even aware of before. With regards to Asian Hiking Team, we can do nothing but rave about their wonderful support team, and how unforgettable their wonderful personalities make each and every trek. Please extend our deepest thanks to Suman as well. Given half a chance we won't hesitate to go to Nepal every year, but have decided to first see some other places as well. Thanks.

We went on the Everest Base Camp and 3 passes trekking and thanks to our guide, Suman, we had a wonderful experience. Suman is a fantastic, knowledgeable guide who not only guided us & took care of everything while on the trek, but also managed other aspects of the holiday, such as arranging our hotel in Kathmandu and booking our domestic flights to & from Lukla. Throughout the trek he was friendly, helpful & conscientious of our welfare, especially when one of our groups was suffering from altitude sickness.
All in all, Suman and his wonderful staff ensured that our trek was a fantastic and memorable experience. I've recommended this trek to all of my friends and look forward to coming back myself in the future.
