Mount Cho Oyu at 8201 metres is the 6th highest mountain in the world. It is standing between the Nepal and Tibet (China) border.
Cho Oyu Mountain was first climbed on October 19, 1954, via the north-west ridge by Herbert Tichy, Joseph Jöchler and Sherpa Pasang Dawa Lama of an Austrian expedition.
The Cho Oyu Expedition from Tibet side consists of very short but scenic treks to Cho Oyu base camp, intermediate and advanced camp followed by 3 (Camp I, Camp II, Camp III) climbing camps that feature very limited and short steep and technical sections making it perfect to get used to the demands on extremely high altitude.
Camp I - 6,400m: It takes about 5-8 hours of steep climbing to reach camp I from base camp. From here, the route follows steep climbing, which improves as height is gained. Camp I is located on a broad shoulder of snow, which leads up to a ridge above the camp.
Camp II - 7,000m: Follow a snow ridge to a series of ice cliffs and involve a steep 50m ice wall at 6600m. Though straight forward it is hardest climbing in the route. Above the ice cliffs, there are several crevasses giving access to Camp II at 7,000m.
Camp III - 7,400m: it takes around 4 hours to reach camp III. It is located beneath a rock band that cuts off snow slopes of the upper basin.
Asian Hiking Team organizes Cho Oyu Expedition from Tibetan side, collecting all permits and necessary documents, Tibet visa, and all climbing equipment. Our experience climbing Sherpa leader brings you to Summit of Mt Cho Oyu 8201m.
